Pranic energy healing and Reiki healing can cure skin problems. Though, it may seem strange but it is true. Before going into details how this works. Let’s first know about our skin.

Did you know that your skin is the largest organ of your body? It is, in terms of both weight—between 3 and 5 Kgs pounds—and surface area—about 18 square feet. Your skin separates the inside of your body from the outside world. It protects you from bacteria and viruses, and regulates your body temperature.

It also bears the maximum impact of ailments as there are more than 3000 skin disorders that affect people worldwide. You must have also faced dry dull skin and lifeless skin. But you are not alone. More than 85 million people in the U.S. are affected by skin diseases.

Most of us have undergone multiple medications and application of creams, but still haven’t found a complete cure?

Well the answer lies in your body itself. You must have heard about miracles through pranic healing. Thus, it can work wonders for your skin too. Changes in color or texture can result from inflammation, infection, or allergic reactions anywhere in the body.

Pranic energy & Reiki healing

Energy healing has several techniques – Pranic and Reiki are two of the leading ones. First, let’s understand what is pranic healing. Pranic energy healing can help activate your body’s self-repair mechanism. It helps you to recover faster and solve the health conditions from within which will make sure that the problems don’t reoccur.

The issues to a large extent depend on the healthiness of the skin and the related chakras. One of the most persistent skin disorders is Psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a chronic, non-communicable, painful, disfiguring and disabling disease for which there is no cure and with great negative impact on patients’ quality of life. Treatment of psoriasis is still based on controlling the symptoms. The need for treatment is usually lifelong and is aimed at remission.

Advanced Pranic healing suggests that in conditions like Psoriasis, patients have dirty energies stuck in their chakras. Could Psoriasis happen due to impure blood? Blood could be impure due to some infection or allergies. To purify the blood, we need to activate the energy of the body.

The chakras are energy centres of the body and they control the energies to heal the body. The solar plexus chakras through the liver, the spleen chakras through the physical spleen, the mengmein chakras through the kidneys, these purify the blood.

The Pranic healing treatment can be given to the patient to purify the blood three times a week till the patient recovers completely.

As psoriasis is emotional in origin, psychotherapy in combination with Pranic energy healing or Reiki could also be very effective.

Pranic healing has been helpful in treating PCOD. It comes from two words: Prana, which means vital energy, and Healing. Pranic Healing is a no-touch, no-drug complementary therapy system that uses prana to heal a wide range of physical and psychological ailments.

As per pranic healing, the reproductive system is controlled and energized by the sex chakras. The sex chakra is located about 2 inches below the navel and is often called the Belly Chakra or the Sacral Chakra. It is also controlled by Ajna chakras which controls the endocrine system.

Pranic healers work on regulating the function of the sacral, ajna and sometimes even the throat chakras through methods like breathing exercises, meditation, relaxation techniques. In combination with diet and exercise regime is also recommended by the practitioner.

Pranic psychotherapy is also sometimes done for better results. By working on one chakra, we also affect the entire chakra system’s balance emotionally, and spiritually.

A typical treatment plan will consist of treatment done 3 times a week for physical, mental and spiritual healing till the patient is cured.

Are PCOD & PCOS different

PCOD (Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease) or PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) or the Stein-Leventhal syndrome refer to the same disease which is not new to Indian women. Nearly 18% of Indian women and over 30% of Indian girls are affected by polycystic ovary syndrome pcos which leads to infertility apart from hormonal imbalances.

PCOD Symptoms

Patients suffering from the ovary syndrome have multiple small cysts in their ovaries. These cysts occur when the regular changes of a normal menstrual cycle are disrupted. The ovary is enlarged; and produces excessive amounts of androgen and estrogenic hormones. This excess, along with the absence of ovulation, may cause infertility.

Some of the symptoms are abnormal menstruation, absence of menstruation, heavy menstruation, irregular menstruation, short and light menstruation, or spotting. Weight gain, acne or oily skin, depression, inappropriate male features, loss of scalp hair, or unwanted hair.

PCOD & Mental illness

Past research has suggested that women with PCOD syndrome are at greater risk for mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression

As per principal investigator Dr. Elisabet Stener-Victorin, of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. Estimates suggest that as many as 5 million women of reproductive age in the US have PCOS.

It is well established that female offspring of women with PCOS are more likely to develop the condition themselves. And it is not just the female offspring who are affected; the sons of women with PCOS tend to have a greater risk for obesity and diabetes, which are also complications of PCOS.

In addition, Dr. Stener-Victorin notes that 60% of women with PCOS have at least one mental health problem, such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder, and they are also at greater risk for suicide.

Can PCOD be treated?

PCOD can be treated, some of the conventional treatments include –

But the above treatments largely induce side effects. Alternate methods don’t.

Alternate methods of treating PCOD

Yoga to the rescue for PCOD

Yoga has been a highly successful treatment method for PCOD. Some of the highly-recommended poses to be followed are –

Surya Namaskara

A set of 12 powerful yoga asanas (postures) that provide a good cardiovascular workout in the form of Surya Namaskar.

Literally translated to sun salutation, these postures are a good way to keep the body in shape and the mind calm and healthy. Surya Namaskar is best done early morning on an empty stomach.

Bound Angle Pose or Cobbler Pose after the typical sitting position of Indian cobblers when they work is an asana. From sitting position with both the legs outstretched forward, hands by the sides, palms resting on the ground, fingers together pointing forward, the legs are hinged at the knees so the soles of the feet meet.

The legs are grasped at the ankles and folded more until the heels reach the perineum. The knees remain on the ground, the body erect and the gaze in front. The asana is held before coming back to the starting position. The thighs are stretched with care.

Upavistha Konasana

This yoga posture is performed sitting and is a forward bend.

Spread the legs as wide that it still feels comfortable. Press the legs against the ground and let the feet lie relaxed on the floor.

As a variation, the hips can be bent forward, whereby the posture of the arms can be kept or placed freely in different directions

This asana is practiced in four stages:

Remain in this position for some time and then return to the previous position.

Supta Baddha Konasana

Supta Baddha Konasana also known as Reclined Cobbler’s Pose, is a deeply relaxing yoga position that requires flexibility in the hips and the legs, particularly the muscles of the inner thighs and groin.

Ayurveda: another alternate

Dr Shubhamanagala follower of classical Ayurveda and practising for the last 20+ years: Ayurveda says improper food, diet plans and lifestyle are the main causes for this condition. PCOD incidents are on the rise because we are going away from the nature.  Natural food and lifestyle with stress free mind will prevent this condition.

Ayurveda says human body is made of channels (srotas). When there are blockages due to intake of excessive curd, cheese which are heavy to digest coupled with sedentary lifestyle and stress these conditions could occur.

If PCOD is in the initial stage one can follow food and lifestyle changes. Intake of cumin, asafoetida, garlic and ginger which increase the digestive fire (agni) will help in reducing the symptoms. Exercise which concentrates on pelvic area must be part of the daily routine. Meditation will help in overcoming the stress.

PCOD Diet Plan for Vegetarians

For women suffering from PCOD, food and meal plan is their medicines and the grocery stores, supermarkets and farmers market like their pharmacies.

PCOS meal and exercise are important parts of managing PCOS. This is because young women with PCOS often have higher levels of insulin (a hormone) in their blood, and hence have issues with maintaining a healthy weight. The right diet plan and what foods to eat and what not can help you manage and improve the way you feel, besides helps in weight loss. Eating well (pcos meal panning), staying active, and maintaining a healthy weight can improve PCOS symptoms.

Basically a colorful mix of vegetables and fruits on a daily basis ensures that you get a good nourishment of vitamins, minerals, and other supplements to balance our insulin, hormones and boost our energy.

The following is a healthy PCOS food list that can be included as part of your meal plan in the daily diet.

On the other spectrum avoid foods which promote the meta-inflammation that leads to endocrine disruption, weight gain, and increased cardiovascular risks, among other undesirable effects.

PCOD and Acupuncture

In traditional Chinese medicine, PCOD is defined as a kidney deficiency disease. In Chinese medicine, absence of ovulation and irregular or absent menstrual cycle is considered a genetic disorder caused due to the kidney and hence root cause of PCOD. Patients with PCOD have “yin” deficiency and high testosterone that is “yang”. When “chi” is deficient in kidneys, transforming fluids become impaired which causes the fluids to be damp and phlegm and these result in cysts. Sufficient blood flow is also not produced which result in infertility, heat patterns produced resulting in hot flashes, night sweat etc which are symptoms of menopause. Acupuncture treatments are done using needling certain points which nourishes the kidney “yin”, regulates and opens Chong vessels and aids in conception, tonify spleen and resolve dampness and phlegm and also move blood stagnation.

PCOD and Getting Pregnant

There are ways to boost ovulation and maximise your chances of conception.

Losing weight may help you. Many women with PCOS are overweight or obese, but putting on weight is also a symptom of PCOS.

Dr Beckett who’s also a spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists says: “It’s a complex picture as not every woman with PCOS is overweight. If you don’t have the insulin resistant type of PCOS you may be slim already so losing weight won’t help you get pregnant.”

Having a healthy body mass index (BMI) can help to balance your hormone levels, reduce the high insulin level that very often occurs in PCOS and help you ovulate.

“The heavier a woman gets the worse the hormone imbalance becomes and the more this is able to affect the ovaries.”

“Weight loss and exercise is vital to dealing with PCOS. The key is to get down the circulating insulin levels in your body.” Women with PCOS are more likely to have problems balancing blood sugar and can become insulin resistant. This causes your pancreas to release more insulin, which in turn targets your ovaries to produce more testosterone.”

Her overall advice for those women with PCOS is: “Having a good diet plan, regular exercise, control stress and take key nutrients to help get your hormones back in balance and reduce the negative symptoms associated with PCOS, along with lose weight.”

How to explain PCOD to your husband

Living with PCOS, there will be days where a woman may feel angry, sad or unattractive –love and support are the most valuable help a partner can give.
It is thus important that you make your partner understand what you are going through and get his support.  The most important thing to ensure that this illness does not rule you is a healthy lifestyle, keep active and eat properly. And for these if you have your partners support it becomes easier to implement and less stressful.  The ideal situation would be for both to stay active together and make it a lifestyle choice.

 Wife to husband –

“I don’t need you to hide part of you or your life from me to make my diet easier – but please don’t eat treats every day!

Talk to me about the things you find hard – maybe my way of dealing with a particular issue is not the best way – maybe we can come up with a better way together?!”

We would love to hear how you have been managing PCOD or know of any close ones who has been dealing with the same. Your story could help someone dealing with the same issues.
